Fear and Loathing

An outlaw view of the underbelly of the beast during the 2008 National Conventions.
Democratic National Convention Images were created by either Tim Hussin or Noah Rabinowitz
Republican National Convention Images by Danny Ghitis.
For the sheer raw power, photojournalism at it’s core.

Tulsa World: A Family Battle

A Family Battle

Margo Battle knows what her 9-year-old son is up against. By Michael Overall and photojournalist Mike Simons.

I like this for it’s simple and clean presentation. I love the huge slideshows, audio snippets and embeded video, all wrapped around strong visuals and good copy.

Please Touch! Really!

October 14, 2008

Please Touch Museum

More than 30 years after starting life in a small corner of another museum, and after a difficult decade toddling around Philadelphia in search of bigger digs, the Please Touch Museum is home.

The folks at Philly.com produced a compelling and very interactive feature for the opening of their new museum. Long live the Flash page-turn!

Hard Times

Travis Fox, ROAD TRIP!

With this in mind, I’m setting out on 3000-mile road trip, from California to Washington, D.C., to see up close how the economic woes are beginning to affect regular people and how it’s going to affect their vote in November.

As a photojournalist myself I know how hard what Travis is doing, not to mention the logistecs of finding stories in unfamiliar territory, plus the nature of this type of story isn’t the most visual, on the surface. So I say bravo to this engaging series, It’s worth a click.

A Georgian Diary

Thomas Dworzak

The Russians invaded Georgia on August 8th, while George W. Bush was in Beijing attending the Olympics. Twenty days passed and Barack Obama was officially named the Democratic Party candidate for the 2008 presidential run. In the meantime, the escalating harsh conflict in Georgia left Europeans and Americans aghast.

Andaman Rising

Andaman Rising

When the Asian tsunami hit southern Thailand in 2004, the sea that had
sustained the region for generations – the Andaman – rose up, destroying families and killing thousands. Beautiful and well done, but I’d expect nothing less from UNC.

Fantastic, clean design, the intro with the pano is way cool. Nice job, subtle, yet very effective. I would have loved to see more audio slide shows.

Some of the most stunning images and written observations I have seen in sometime. Worth your time. The navagation is a ‘bit’ tricky, but once you figure out to click the bottom area of each image, you’ll enter this dream-like visual feast.
