The new
Litepanels Micro is a cost effective solution for both video and stills. If you are looking for portable lighting that allows you to be as quick and streamlined this is your answer. First, anything this good that runs off standard AA batteries is a plus in my book. The last thing I need is another damn battery charger. I’ve been using the sweet little light for a month and I’m in love. Some of the reasons I’m in love:

Integrated dial for instant 100% to 0 dimming
Minimal color shift when dimming
All-in-one Camera Light w/no external cables
Absolutely flicker-free 5600°K
Runs 1.5 hours on four AA batteries
It also comes with warming and diffusing gels. On the down side it feels a little ‘cheap’ for the price of $350. BUT, with this light and a cheap portable light stand, I’ve even used it instead of pulling out my Dyna-lites or my Canon SB-whatever…..I’m no strobist…when I do ’still’ portraits. It’s versatile and the best darn video light I’ve used. And how could I NOT embed this YouTube video of this manly man. You have to sit through the mic review before you see the panel in action, enjoy.

There have been a lot of complaints about the build quality of this units so you might want to watch out. I prefer Vidleds (www.vidled.com), there are sturdier and a better bang for the buck even though I wish they would have a better way to attach filters than just taping them on.
