The successful candidate needs to be a content-driven visual reporter adept at storytelling with both traditional and cutting-edge technologies, including still photography, audio and video.
The photojournalism program has four full-time faculty and one full-time staff member.
There are two tracks within the major – Photojournalism and New Media Publishing. The successful candidate will teach classes in both areas. Classes include visual storytelling, digital technologies, photographic lighting, picture editing, design, audio, video and Web distribution.
A master’s degree plus at least five years experience is required for tenure-track status. A bachelor’s degree and significant professional experience will also be considered for an appointment as professional-in residence. Starting date for the position is August 2009.
The School of Journalism and Broadcasting, designated a Kentucky Program of Distinction, is housed in an $18.5 million state-of-the-art building. The photojournalism program has two digital labs, one photographic studio and one darkroom.
