Autodesk has a pretty hefty price tag. It’s been a while since i’ve run into problems playing .mov files on a PC other than updating to QT 7 for h264 encoded videos. I read the list of “reasons to buy” on the website, and wasn’t convinced for a few reasons:
1. unless on2 beats out h64 in cost(bandwidth)/benefit(quality), won’t h264 be the encode of choice since FP9 supports it now and in less than a year saturation of FP9 will be adequate for this route?
2. it says it can encode to flv. does it include any codecs i’ve already paid for with my $600 Squeeze Power Pack? i don’t need all the other formats.
The AutoDesk website and the recommendation’s here don’t offer enough information for me to confidently slap down $600. Any further info would help. Thanks to the chefs for all the effort into this post. Very helpful.
