The R09 has 1/8" mini mic plugs correct?

So you're running a few feet of 1/8" male to XLR female into the mics?

yeah, they could all be 'tweaked' aka levels, input sensitivity, but I thought since most new folks will just plug and play it was a fun test to see or hear the results.

The test was kind of interesting, but it should be noted that the the two sennheiser microphones both run pretty strong in their output and are often refered to as hot microphones. A simple audio levels adjustment would probably make up for the volume differences.

While the sennheisers also sounded the best, its always hard for me to tell subtle differences. Sound has so many factors involved, not the least of which is accoustics of the room, peoples individual voices etc.

Often less expensive microphones work well, but dont hold up, are not as sensitive and in the case of shotgun microphones allow in too much contamination from the sides and rear. Cheapies can also sound flat, which to some extent I noticed here.
