When Los Angeles Times Photogapher Luis Sinco made this picture of James Blake Miller smoking a cigarette during the battle of Fallujah, the photo and Miller became instant icons of the Iraq War. Now, in an outstanding multimedia piece, Sinco has followed up on the post-war life of Miller. The work, produced by Sinco in conjunction with MediaStrom, explores war, politics, PTSD and the connection between journalists and their subjects. Today is Veterans’ Day, so watch and learn from this beautifully told story and then thank a Vet.

Thanks for alerting me to this. These three multimedia pieces are truly an excellent example of just what the format is capable of. Sinco’s journalism is deep and personal and the Mediastorm production is innovative and well-executed. Well worth watching all three in their entirety.
